Background
The San Francisco Unified School District is pleased to offer its students
access to the World Wide Web and electronic mail service. These on-line
technologies offer students access to library databases and informational
Web sites from all around the world. They also offer the ability to exchange
messages with children and adults anywhere. However, using the Internet
has its risks. Children may encounter text or images that are inaccurate
or offensive.
Get Informed
Parents need to know their rights and responsibilities, and how to help
their children make the best use of the Internet, at home and at school.
School district parents should be on the lookout for information and forms
concerning the acceptable use of the Internet, which will be sent home
on February 5th. This information is also available from the following
