Filtering web site access To
help prevent students from accessing inappropriate material when they
are using the districts Internet services the IST department has acquired
Cyber Patrol filtering software that all sites can use. You can request
for your site to be filtered by completing an online request for service.
To fill out a Help
Request form, press the Help Request button on any of the IST pages.
If you have any problem call the Help desk at 241-6476 for assistance. 6.4
Internet Newsgroups Usenet
News or newsgroups are provided to SFUSD personnel and students for
use for educational related material. Newsgroups should be treated as
a bulletin board, where the individual originating a post understands
that anyone and everyone will see this posting and should consider the
content of the language and material used in the post. Once the post
is sent to the newsgroup, the poster should understand that he/she cannot
take it back. SFUSD does not carry all newsgroups available on the Internet.
To request a newsgroup or maintenance of a newsgroup, contact IST with
the specific information via an Online Service Request form. 6.5
Internet Listserv A
listserv or mailing list service is provided to SFUSD personnel and
students for use for educational related material. To request a new
listserv or to become a member of or be removed from a listserv, contact
IST with the specifications (list name, static or dynamic list, member
list) on a Service Request form. 6.6
Email To
receive an email account with the district you must complete an acceptable
use agreement see 6.1 above. Email services for SFUSD accounts are only
accessible while on SFUSD campuses or communicating through a modem
and dialing directly to SFUSD dialup services. The delivery, confidentiality
and privacy of email cannot be guaranteed across the Internet. Email
should be treated like a postcard, where anyone with the postcard can
read the message. Much like the post office, once Email is sent, it
cannot be "un-sent". Every one should understand that Email is vulnerable
to attack by users with malicious intent. Updated 1/16/2002 |
