Extent/type of support services provided

Each students' IEP determines the level/type of support needed, including support which may be necessary for school personnel.

Special Day Class: students who participate in special day classes demonstrate the following skills/interest/needs.

Learning Disability SDC[~]
Students receive instruction in core curriculum with adaptations that are based on their individual needs. When possible students, should be mainstreamed.
Emotionally Disturbed SDC[~]
Same as above. In addition, intensive behavioral intervention including, when appropriate mental health services.
Severely Impaired SDC[~]
Same as LD/SDC. The educational program may best be addressed with focus placed on life skills and community based instruction. The curriculum being taught must be student centered. Therefore, certain skills may be best taught in the natural environment in which the activity would normally take place. Participation of students in theses programs may culminate in a Letter of Completion.

    Service delivery for the above may include:
  • Integration of students into general education classes
  • Integration of students into community based activities

Service delivery for the above may include

  • Consultation with the student's teacher, parent, other staff and monitoring of student's progress
  • Indirect service[~] may require some direct contact with the student but the focus is on training other staff on appropriate techniques or strategies.
  • Direct service[~] specialist may work one to one with the student

Inclusion services may include

  • Direct support services from Inclusion Support teacher
  • Consultation to general education teachers
  • Paraprofessional support

Low Incidence services are available to students with hearing impairments, vision, and severe orthopedic impairments who have IEPs.

These services include

  • Interpreters, notetakers, readers, transcribers
  • Equipment/materials

Nursing services require Physician's Authorization for identified medical needs. The type of service provided is determined by the student's medical condition and needs.

Such services may include

  • Trained designated paraprofessional and/or teacher
  • LVN or RN visits
  • LVN or RN assigned all day

Transportation services may include

  • MUNI Fast Pass
  • Designated neighborhood pick up point
  • Door to door pick up on yellow bus
