of Assumptions and Design Criteria
The Information Technology (IT) Pathway program:
1.
Equips students with the standards-based, academic and
career knowledge and skills (including SCANS skills)
required for both:
- Admission
into post-secondary education institutions (including
four-year universities);
- Entry
into an information technology cluster of related
occupations.
2.
Provides students with opportunities for work-based
learning experiences connected to the curriculum.
3.
Provides students with opportunities for concurrent
enrollment in post-secondary education institutions.
4.
Relies on the collaboration and sharing of resources
between the San Francisco Unified School District, institutions
of higher education, and industry for its development
and implementation.
5.
Addresses the mandates of both:
- The
San Francisco Urban Systemic Program (SF USP) initiative;
- The
San Francisco School-To-Career Partnership (SFSTCP).
6.
Offers a model to be used for district-wide implementation
as soon as the beginning of the 2000-01 school year.
7.
Builds on research of best practices (including the
work of the NorthWest Center for Emerging Technologies
in Bellevue, Washington).
