Superintendent's 21st Century Award

Scholarship amount: $2,000 (6 scholarships available)

Applications are due Friday, March 8, 2019.

The Superintendent’s 21st Century Award will be granted to six graduating SFUSD seniors who exemplify a particular strength in one or more of the characteristics of the SFUSD Graduate Profile. Winners will each receive a $2,000 scholarship and be honored at a ceremony this spring. This scholarship is available to all students regardless of citizenship status.

Background

We want each San Francisco student to be ready to succeed in the 21st century. SFUSD is committed to helping all students develop strong academic knowledge and skills, as well as a host of dispositions and behaviors, that increase their curiosity and engagement, activate their full potential for learning, and prepare them for life, work, and study beyond their secondary school years. Our goal is for SFUSD students to reflect the Graduate Profile, each in their own unique way, by the time they graduate.

Application process

Applications are due Friday, March 8, 2019.

Your checklist for a complete application:

  1. Prepare your essay, in less than 1,000 words, describing how you exemplify one of the characteristics in the Graduate Profile and how your SFUSD experience supported your development in this area (we know you may exemplify several, but please select only one to focus on for this essay).
  2. Prepare two letters of recommendation.
  3. Fill out an application form online and attach your essay and letters of recommendation. (You are allowed to edit responses until 5 p.m. on March 8, 2019).
