Working for the San Francisco Unified School District

In addition to teachers, the San Francisco Unified School District employs more than 9,000 individuals in a diverse array of areas such as building and maintenance, food service, human resources, finance and accounting, information technology, and public information.

Application and Hiring Process

If you are interested in being considered for a Classified (non-teaching) career with the San Francisco Unified School District, you will most likely go through the following four-step hiring process:

Step One: Review the job announcements at EdJoin and identify those that interest you. Carefully read the job announcement, particularly the "Requirements for Applying" section, and follow directions.

While we can't respond individually to every applicant, we will review all applications carefully and contact you if your skills and experience are a match for the position.

Step Two: If your application shows you are a strong candidate for the position, you will be invited to participate further in the recruitment process.  In some cases, the next step in the recruitment process will involve taking an examination, participating in a practical exercise, and/or interviewing.

Step Three: For those candidates that successfully pass all steps in the recruitment process, you will be referred to the hiring department for consideration.

Step Four: You will then proceed with the hiring process as determined by the position and the department.
