High School Credit Recovery Program

Credit recovery and credit-earning options are offered to high-school students who:

  • Need credit recovery (received a grade of F in the original course)
  • Want to retake a course to improve grade (received a grade of D in the original course)
  • Have not taken a required course for graduation

Current credit recovery and credit-earning options include:

  • Evening high school
  • Online learning
  • Saturday school
  • Summer school (including Senior Graduation Summer School)
  • City College of San Francisco’s transitional studies program

Evening High School

Evening school is offered to high school students who need to retake a course for credit recovery (F in original course), improve a grade (D in original grade) or need additional credits to graduate on time.
Date: Fall and Spring Semesters
Location: Lincoln HS, Mission HS, Burton HS
Registration Process: High school counselors will work with students and families to register students.

Online Learning

Online learning provides schools a flexible learning management system to improve student achievement. Courses are rigorous (UC a-g approved) and interactive, ensuring students are engaged in the learning process. This program is primarily offered to students who need to retake a course for credit recovery (F in original course), improve a grade (D in original grade) or need additional credits to graduate on time.

Date: Fall, Spring and Summer Semesters
Location: Multiple school sites
Registration process: High-school counselors will work with students and families to register students. Students will attend class with an approved online learning registration form to be enrolled in the course.

Saturday School

Saturday school is offered to high students who need to retake a course for credit recovery (F in original course), improve a grade (D in original grade) or need additional credits to graduate on time.

Dates: Fall and Spring Semesters
Location: Burton HS
Registration process: High-school counselors will work with students and families to register students.

Summer School

Central summer school provides courses for credit recovery and English language development. Senior Graduation Summer School will be offered to seniors who need credits for graduation.

Summer 2017 Dates: June 7, 2017 - July 13, 2017

Locations: Galileo HS, O'Connell HS, Mission HS, Balboa HS
Registration materials: Applications are available from high-school counselors.
Registration process: For credit recovery, discuss and plan available options and enrollment with the student’s school counselor.

City College of San Francisco (CCSF) Transitional Studies

The Transitional Studies Department of CCSF offers credit recovery options for high-school students. Students have the opportunity to enroll in non-credit transitional studies courses free of charge in order to make up high-school courses and/or to earn credit to meet high school graduation requirements. Courses are available in the subject areas of math, English, science, and history, as well as courses for English Language Learners.
