Where Is Early Education

Early Education Department Programs

The Early Education Department has programs for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children (TK-5th grade).  View a complete list of our Early Education Schools and the Elementary Schools where the Out-of-School Time (OST) programs which serve school-age children are available.

Infant and Toddler Program

Our infant program serves children starting at the age of three months.  Our toddler program serves children starting at the age of 18 months.  Currently, our infant and toddler programs are only at Presidio Early Education School.

Preschool Program Curriculums

Our preschool programs can be found throughout San Francisco either in Early Education Schools or Elementary Schools.  We have educational approaches which are well suited for preschool students, developmentally appropriate, attuned to individual uniqueness, and responsive to the social and cultural context of students.

Out-of-School Time Programs

The SFUSD Early Education Department Out Of School Time (OST) program focuses on the child as an individual offering experiences that promote his/her physical, emotional, social, cognitive and creative domains.  The OST program provides a balance of academics, enrichment and recreational activities for children in Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grades.  The program provides a high quality, safe and secure place for children after school and whenever school is not in session.  The children in the OST program come from diverse economic, racial, ethnic, linguistic and family backgrounds including children with special needs.  Please see below for more information.
