Office of Extended Learning and Support

The Office of Extended Learning and Support (ExLS) oversees High School Credit Recovery, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)/AVID Excel, Plan Ahead and Early College Initiative.  ExLS seeks to serve off-track and underrepresented students to achieve high school graduation and college success, as well as to prevent/reduce the number of off-track students.

  • High School Credit Recovery:  Students who need to retake courses can access Evening, Saturday and Summer Schools for second-time instruction in 'a-g' courses and other required courses for high school graduation.
  • AVID and AVID Excel: Students in the "academic middle" participate in AVID or AVID Excel (English Learners only) to gain the strategies and skills necessary for academic success in middle and high school and receive support to gain college admission.
  • Plan Ahead: Plan Ahead is the required 9th grade college and career course.
  • Early College Initiative: This is an initiative to increase participation of underrepresented students in dual enrollment at community colleges for credit and noncredit courses.
