What Is Early Education
The Early Education Department (formerly known as the Child Development Program), established in 1943, is the largest provider of early education and after-school services for children in the City and County of San Francisco.
Mission
The Early Education Department (EED), in addition to being committed to the SFUSD overall mission, is committed to providing high-quality early childhood education services for children in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment that promotes each child’s social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth and competency through appropriate experiences. The department validates the cultural and linguistic heritage of each child and supports families in maintaining their children’s physical and mental health.
The Early Education Department supports the SFUSD PreK-3rd Grade Initiative and supports our families with students in Kindergarten - 5th Grade in our School Age and Afterschool Programs.
Non-discriminatory policy
The San Francisco Unified School District Early Education Department does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, or ethnic origin in the administration of education policies and opportunities. EED does not include religious instruction or worship.
