Life Learning Academy, a diploma granting San Francisco Unified School District Charter School is designed to serve 60 high-school aged youths who have not been successful in other school settings for a variety of reasons. Class size is 6-8 students. Advisor interviews are held with students prior to the beginning of each new semester. At the Academy, academic lessons are combined with vocational and life skills education. The Academy's curriculum is based on experiential learning students learn by doing. Thus, the Academy provides an integrated curriculum that combines all traditional academic classes-English, social science, mathematics, science, and foreign languages with project-based vocational activities to model learning as it happens in the real world. The Academy's mission is to instill in our students a love of learning, and to teach them the skills necessary to be productive and healthy members of society.
