1997-98 SFUSD Professional Development Calendar
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CALENDAR The Professional Development Calendar is designed to provide information to employees of the SFUSD about opportunities available to them to enhance their professional growth. The focus of professional development in the SFUSD is determined by district goals and priorities along with individual and site determined areas of need. These focus areas are supported by the office of Curriculum Improvement and Professional Development in coordination with school operations and other district departments. Activities should emphasize building individual and site leadership capacity, collaborative endeavors, and model effective professional development strategies. Following the guidelines for Professional Standards for the Teaching Profession, and the procedure for renewal of teaching credentials, professional growth activities are idenified primarily by school sites and through individual teacher growth plans. (Please review procedure described below.) As ongoing activities become available to teachers and administrators, they will be described on this Professional Development Calendar. Teacher's Individual Professional Growth Plans Connecting Professional Development Activities to Maintain California Teaching Credential and Acquiring Increment Credit on Salary Schedule
Professional development is an inegral part of all programs and major objectives of the SFUSD. In order for teachers to be engaged in meaningful activities that meet their individual professional growth needs, as well as the priorities and objectives of the district, we are aligning the processes of acquiring those hours necessary to receive or renew a teaching services credential and those activities that can be used to earn district increment credit. The SFUSD will incorporate procedures for district increment credit with the procedures described in The California Professional Growth Manual for Multiple and Single Subject Credentials and Services and Specialists Credentials.
