Utilizing education's experts from California Department of Education, CIPD, multimedia presentations, and other professional resources, teachers and administrators will have the opportunity to learn and implement strategies/activities that focus on students' strengths including prior knowledge and cultural diversity. Through extended workshop activities, participants will also have the opportunity to learn and implement activities that will help targeted students expand their academic, cultural and linguistic repertoire by appropriating the knowledge's and discourse styles deemed desirable for success in the school and community.

This sixty-hour course is designed for credentialed teachers currently in ELD/ESL and bilingual classrooms who do not hold CLAD or BCLAD certification. Presenters will provide teachers with the knowledge, strategies, and information necessary to work successfully with Second Language Learners. This course will prepare teachers to take the CLAD sections of the CLAD/BCLAD state examination.
