2. ESL department professional development day: 1/30/2002 

- Mrs. Luini and Mrs. Carlson did a workshop on electronic portfolio and its implication on CCR,
LALAR and WASC. Department members got to practice setting up at least one portfolio using our
network's folders. 
- Ms. Mok did a presentation on literature cycle and shared some materials obtained from ALACASA. 
- Mrs. Luini and Ms. Mok presented new methods learned from ALACASA. 
- Mr. Fang reminded members about CCR, calendar activity change and other business. 

3. CABE conference 1/31/2002 to 2/3/2002: 

Mr.Fang went to the conference and learned a lot from workshops and talking to teachers, administrators and experts. Materials are available for sharing in Room 130. Presentation of the workshop will be at next department meeting. We should keep an eye on the new AB2042 law regarding new credentiling requirements that might potentially impact teachers who are not CLAD certified and who will not retire in 10 years. They might have to spend two more years in a special credentialing program in order to renew their credential.
