ESL/Bilingual Department Business http://www.sfusd.edu/programs/chinese/index.htm 8/29/2002 1. Welcome back Welcome back everyone! Here is the latest enrollment information obtained from yesterday's department head's meeting: On Monday, We had 2487 students. On Tuesday, the count was 2602 because many 11 and 12 graders came back. Blue class count form must be turned in everyday by 3:30 p.m. If you don't turn in the blue form before 3:30 p.m., you will get a note from Mr. Chung because he needs to report to Dr. Tom everyday at 4:00 p.m. Our current teacher allocation is based on 2650 students. We had a smooth start thanks to everybody's effort. So far, of the 134 McAteer students, only 15 have not showed up. Obviously they want to be here and they are in classes. What we do to make sure they are successful at school will be our priority. 2. Computer lab: The two computer labs are not available because many mouse balls were stolen. Please take care of your room computers' mouse balls by taking them out when you are not using the computers. 3. Books and supplies: Please be aware that we only have one para (Magaret Han) to work on ESL textbooks for 12 teachers who are teaching full time or part time in the department. We do not have a nice and tidy book room like 208 and it takes some time to dig out boxes of books. This year, we have a new procedure to request supplies. If you request supplies from the department, you may just leave Margaret a note. If you need to purchase something that we don't have in the department, or you need to request a sub (using the ESL money), etc., you would have to use the enclosed request form (you may make as many copies as you want). I will be glad to sign off any reasonable request. However, it also has to go through Ms. Davis and Mr. Chung for instructional approval and budget approval. 4. Keys: Please see the enclosed memo about keys from Ms. Meszaros. 5. Department planning/meeting today: Please meet with the teacher who teach the same subject with you to work on grading policy and course synopsis. Use the enclosed form for your planning and reporting. 6. ESL department meeting: First Wednesday lunch of each month in Room 319. |
