ESL department meeting minutes 9/16/2004 1. Back to School night:
It has been decided that all ESL English teachers will be using the library on the Back to School night to meet with the EL parents. Mr. Fang had talked to Cathy. Cathy said that the library would not have any textbooks by then. He also sent a note to Mr. Chung and told him that the department would like to use the library. It is now pending on Mr. Pang's approval.
2. Student placement form:
The department has agreed upon the use of a generic form for student placement change. In the future, teachers will not respond to individual counselor's request on whether a student can change to a higher level. All changes will be initiated by either the department head or a teacher and application will be filed in the ESL department. Mr. Chung will make the final decision on whether to approve the change of levels.
3. CELDT:
Ms. Armada talked to the department on how to do the reading and writing test within LD or RD classes. Each teacher is supposed to pick up an examiner's manual from her. The current speaking test will be done around October 6.
