ESL/Bilingual Department Meeting

1. Bilingual glossary:
The state will allow EL students to make a bilingual glossary of terms from different subjects to be used in the CA High School Exit Exam and CAT6/SAT9 test. The glossary cannot be a dictionary of any kind and it can have word by word translation only. Teachers have questions on whether the State will publish a glossary in English to include all words that will be tested in those standardized tests.
2. Budget discussion:
Mr. Fang presented the final budget to the department with categorical break down of how funding would be used. Teachers would like to see more money be spent on instructional supplies to make sure book supplies are enough. Also, teachers have questions on how to propose a workshop so that people can follow the procedure. Mr. Fang would produce a workshop proposal form for anyone who would be giving workshops or tutoring.
The department members who were present passed the budget unanimously.
