ESL Department Meeting Minutes10/2/2002 Present: Fang, F; Carlson, Y; Luini, J; Mok, S; Szabla, J; Leung, S; Fong, J; Han, M; Galarza, O 1. Thursday's staff meeting: everyone will be joining focus groups. It is expected that the whole school will respond to the WASC recommendations and each department will also need to respond. Highlights of our department: - Communication through E-mail and cross-departmental meeting each month - the establishment of Ethnic literature .6 class 2. Department meeting change: Due to conflicts of other club/department meetings, our department meeting will be changed to the first Monday noon of each month in Room 126. 3. Field Trips: Members are encouraged to take educational field trips since we have $3000 in the account. Please give the administrator enough time (at least two weeks) prior to the field trip to process your paper work. Ms. Leung will not go to any field trip. 4. Tutoring: Szabla will pick up Fong's hours since she is not going to do it. Mok will only be available to work two afternoons a week. Fang will be doing some ESL language development tutoring. All teachers involved are expected to keep a tutoring log. 5. Questions and concerns: Teachers would like to have a clear guideline on how to initiate SST meeting or refer students to Special Education service when language issues have been ruled out. Mr. Fang will inquire the administrative team. |
