October 13, 2005 ELD Department Meeting Notes
Attendees: Fan Fang, Rachel Collins, Calvin Chan, George Irving, Edward
Zilch, Sid Waxman, Jonathan Ross
- Mr. Fang reported that in response to an inquiry from Mr. Pang, Mr. Fang
had explained that we meet at lunch in order to be able to include teachers
who also need to attend their other department meetings after the 7th
period. Mr. Pang noted that the lunchtime meetings might be considered a
contract violation and said that we should not have lunchtime meeting.
Please let Mr. Fang know if you have a problem with the lunchtime meetings.
- Focus Groups: If your focus group needs information about the
ELD department, ask Mr. Fang or bring it up in the department meeting.
- We need to aggregate by area (grammar, vocabulary, etc.)for
WASC. The attendees agreed that we want to break down the data according to
CST categories.
Action Plan: Mr. Fang will obtain a CD of the data and run through a
program he has that will translate from PDF to XL format. He will
distribute CDs to department members. Sid Waxman volunteered to look at
the data and devise a method or macros for aggregating the data.
