ESL/Bilingual Department Meeting Minutes10/12/2004
Present: Fang, F; Chan, C; Zilch, E; Collins, R; Frediani, J; Irving, G; Armada, T
1. Scholastic book orders: See Mr. Fang if you want your students to order scholastic books for SSR. Those books are inexpensive and good for students of various reading levels.
2. CELDT reading and writing test Ms. Armada gave an instruction on how to do the CELDT reading and writing test. Most ELs will be tested Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. ELs who are in regular classes will be tested next week. Ms. Mok's students will be tested next week, too since she was absent today.
Teachers were asked to check their student lists to see if they were correct. If any students don't have a booklet, don't let them take the test because they might have been tested by another teacher. Write down names of students who have not been tested in your class.
3. Low level students There are some students from newcomer programs who are very low. The department recommended that a special class formed for these students whenever it was possible. A list with names of these students and teacher comments would be produced after the discussion. |
