7. Information about professional development: the school has $1000 for teachers to go to workshops.

8. Charity Cultural Services Center's (CCSC) Family in Transition Program

- Our department needs to refer students to this special after school class (students get credit) next school year.

- In order to have this special class, students need to go to weekend or Saturday workshops/fieldtrips. There needs to be at least one certificated person to supervise them.

- If students cannot go to the workshops/fieldtrips, the program will not be hosted here but the tutoring will remain on campus offered by CCSC.

Discussion result:

- Teachers asked if CCSC's grant has put in extended hours for certificated people to supervise students' after school activities such as fieldtrip. Since the school district is giving credits to students, then someone (either the district or CCSC) has to pay the teachers who participate in the teaching activities, otherwise it would become a union issue. If CCSC or the district does not recognize the teacher's supervision job, then if something happens to the students, it would be the teacher's responsibility--the teacher is liable. Therefore, teachers would need more information from CCSC or the district before signing up for supervision.

- The ESL department can recommend students to the program. Need CCSC's criteria in writing.

The meeting adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
