ESL department meeting minutes

1. Teachers who are teaching the same course should get together to discuss:

- grading policy and curriculum articulation based on the district's and State's ELD standards.

- supplementary materials used and see whether more textbooks or workbooks, dictionary, are needed

- possible use of a portable language lab in your class

- What have we done as a department since last WASC visit?

(Literature teachers will be attending the English department meeting.)

2. After this afternoon's common planning activity, I would like a written report from each group (teachers who are teaching the same course) on what we have done as a department to address the issues identified on the last WASC action plan. (Please refer to your copy of the WASC action plan. See Ms. Davis if you need one.) We need to answer the following:

- Growth Need 1: Steps #1, #4, #5

- Growth Need 2: Steps #3, #5

- Growth Need 3: Steps #5, #6

- Growth Need 4: Steps #1, #2, #4, #5

(If English department needs you to do something similar, you can just make a copy to me.)

3. There will be a book fair on December 18 and December 19 from 11:00 to 4:00 in the Bookmobile and Cafeteria sponsored by Schwabe Books. I have submitted a purchase requisition to Mr. Chung for us each to spend around $200 on reference books or anything that promotes sustained silent reading activities in your class. Please go and do your holiday educational shopping.
