CCR update:

12/13/2001 afternoon, Pat Brown from the district office came to our school and went over CCR procedures and reviewed important issues with us. Lydia Stack, Melanie Hanh and Christy Hert from the district's multilingual office, Frank Tom from the High School Operations, Gregg Bender from the Federal and State Funded Projects office were  meeting with the school's administrators, the school site council chair Bev Austin and me.

Literacy Plan:

Please go to your departments' meetings this afternoon and get ideas on what we should do to establish a literacy plan for our department. We will be doing one in our January ESL English teacher's professional development day.

ESL teacher conference and ESL teacher/parent night:

ESL teacher conference day suggested agenda:

1. ESL language development and reading teaching strategies: a presentation on new methodology presented in the district's ALACASA workshops.

2. Literacy plan: discussion along with budget discussion

3. CCR training: what we need to do

4. Teacher preparation and reflection: how to implement what we learn from the presentation to our classes

Please let me know which days are the best for our January professional development day and ESL teacher/parent night.

CATESO conference:

The CATESO conference is going to be in San Francisco this time in March 2002. If any of you would like to go to the conference, you will get a substitute teacher for that day. However, we are not able to pay for your registration. Please contact Ericka Davis regarding conference registration because the school has SB1882 money for teachers' professional development. Please do it now because it takes at least a month for your conference/travel request to go through the approval circle, (signatures from the Multilingual office, Dr. Tom and the superintendent) and it takes another month for your registration to be processed.

Department head's meeting 12/12

1. Demo on Lincoln web page: need feedback from each department on categories

All AB 2882 computers will be installed. Dell company is sending a team to Lincoln on Monday, 12/17 to install those computers.

2. A digital camera in the main office is ready for people to borrow.

3. Example of literacy plan that we all need to do in each department

4. After teachers who turn in their product to Mr. Pang, they will get the green form for their summer project. Please turn in your final product as soon as possible so that you can get paid on time.

5. Next semester's schedule: school starts at 7:30; staff meeting days will start at 8:05. 7:15 to 7:59 will be meeting time: principal's proposal. There is a discussion on this topic. Mr. Pang will send out a final schedule to Lincoln community soon.

6. What are some of the things people want to hear in the faculty meeting? Please tell your department head what you think about the general faculty meeting. We have to talk about tests and test scores because that is what the district is using to evaluate our administrators.
