9:00 to 10:00: School Site Plan -- the value of process (what does
"value" mean?)
10:00 to 10:15: Break
10:15 to 11:00: Analysis of our students' last year's STAR9 score: strategies
for improvement
11:00 to 12:00: CCR, ESLRs and LALAR
12:00 to 1:00: Lunch
1:00 to 2:00: Curriculum and standard alignment with ESLRs and LALAR
2:00 to 3:00: Summary and portfolio presentation; evaluation of today's
workshop
Objectives:
- To improve our communication by setting up an e-mail group: if all teachers
in our department get a computer in the classroom, we will be able to check
our e-mail regularly for notices from the school administration or the
department head.
- To better understand our role in the school site plan: what do we need to do
in order to carry out the site plan activities that apply to us?
- To understand the CCR process that is coming next year: how do we use the
LALAR and LALAR portfolio to assess student progress? How do we align our
ESLRs to LALAR?
The products for the day:
- Each teacher or paraprofessional has a free e-mail account and knows how
to retrieve and send e-mails to everyone in the department.
- Each teacher or paraprofessional knows how our students are doing in this
year's STAR9 test and has at least one idea on how to improve students'
score in the weak areas next year.
- Each teacher produces one physical LALAR portfolio and one digital LALAR
portfolio for one student in one of our classes. Each paraprofessional
understands the process of making a LALAR portfolio and is able to help
students to make one when requested.
- The department has a first draft of how we align ESLRs to LALAR.
