- To revisit the need for implementing 7/8 reading class
- To refresh everyone's skills on e-mail and network folders;

- To share new technology trends from MacWorld conference
- To test out new software that can be used by our students
in the computer lab
- To evaluate the library's literacy program piloted by two
teachers in our department and the impact on our students' reading skills
- To re-visit our technology integration curriculum
9:45 to 10:00 a.m.: Break
10:00 to 11:30 a.m.: Guest speakers from Longman and the
SFUSD MP office:
Representatives from Longman company will come and present to
teachers on the latest edition of their CAELD Standards-based supplementary
textbooks and software. Resource teachers from the District's Multilingual
Programs Office will also participate in this activity.
11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Differentiated instruction:
Teachers learn to design lessons/units/curriculum with the
help of the guest speakers using our current materials and to evaluate new
materials.
12:01 p.m. to 13:00 p.m.: Work Lunch: LALAR
portfolio assignment
13:01 p.m. to 14:33 p.m.: Preparation of LALAR portfolio
Teachers will prepare their students' LALAR portfolio online.
14:34 p.m. to 15:12 p.m.: Department meeting
Teachers will reflect on what they have learned and how to
apply to their teaching. Special focus will be on WASC report.
