English Language Development Classes

Students can take three years of English as a Second Language courses including literature and advanced English language development courses that meet the UC admission requirement.

There are four levels:

Beginning level: ESL level 1 and 2

Intermediate level: ESL level 3 and 4

Advanced level: ESL level 5 and 6

Transitional level: ESL level 7 and 8

After a student finishes three years of ESL courses, he/she will be transitioned to ESL literature (or SDAIE English) courses by grade level. We offer four ESL literature/SDAIE courses that are accepted by the University of California to fulfill the English requirement for admission. These courses are:

9th grade English

10th grade English

American Literature

European/English Literature

Key Benefits

Students will be able to meet the UC's four-year English requirement without going to general education program.
Students get special attention to grammar and other ESL related problems.
Students are provided with additional English course to enhance their language acquisition experience.
