ESL
Parent/Teacher Conference
The annual ESL parent/teacher conference has been a big event because we
always have a big parent turn-out. About 300 parents, or over 50% of the ELL
parents participated in year 2004-2005 ESL parent/teacher conference.
At the conference, parents come to talk to their children's teachers to learn
more about their children's academic and social life at school, and to fill out
bilingual request forms if they request English plus Chinese education for their
children.
The ESL parent/teacher conference is also an information distribution
meeting. Through Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Spanish and Russian
translation, ELLs and their parents get to know the latest news in the district
or at the school that may impact them. This year, parents learned about our
Superintendent's Five Year Comprehensive Plan -- Excellence for All.
The ESL parent/teacher conference provides a safe and informational
environment for parents of ELLs to participate in their children's education. It
has proven to be a very successful activity. Click the following links to see
