A.P. Giannini Middle School June 6, 2007       Wednesday Bulletin # 37

Dates to Remember

June 6 - 8th Grade Great America Trip

June 11 - Graduation Ceremony, 2:00 pm, Lincoln High School

June 12 - Last Day of School

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL TROOK:     It is hard to believe that this is the last bulletin of the year.  It has been a very good year.  We hope that all the hard work and effort of all of us - working in partnership as a community will be reflected in student CST scores, in students’ final grades and in students feeling safe and well-cared for at the school.  Thank you all for your support.  That certainly is a large contributor to the success of this school.

May each of you have a wonderful summer, hopefully, with time for a family vacation.  I am fortunate to be traveling to China to visit Chinese language programs and live my lifelong dream of walking the Great Wall.

For you whose child is an 8th grade graduate, I will see you at graduation and congratulate your family on three wonderful years.

PTA LAST WORDS:  Please welcome your new PTA Board Members and Committee Chairs for the 2007-2008 school year.  They would love to have a lot of volunteers next year -  we can do so much if we only have your help.  We also are in need of a Volunteer Coordinator for next year.  Please e-mail your new PTA President at aclark@pacbell.net with questions or if you are interested in helping out in any way.

    President - Allyson Clark

    Secretary - Rob Strong

Treasurer - Rob Strong (interim only  we’d love a TREASURER, Rob cannot do both, really)

    Jaguar Fund/Membership - Barb Plank

    AP Gear - Amy Miller

    Graduation - Jennifer Hom

Bulletin - Margaret Wong and Mo Valentini

    Dances - Crystal Jang

    Teas - Chris Mills

A lot of these kind folks picked just one thing to do - this way no one gets burned out.

Thanks to all of our great volunteers who pitched in this past year.  We had a record number of people!!!  The time put in volunteering at school is so helpful to us all  and it’s good for the kids, too!!!  I must say, you also meet some pretty fun people.

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2007

PTA Queen’s Last Words:

    School’s out for summer… (Alice Cooper, 1972)

This is it -  all the kids will be in different grades next year - some in different schools.  Wow  it goes quick.  What a lovely time we’ve had.  The older they get, the faster it goes.  Don’t blink, you might miss something good.  These are special years.

8th Graders  Enjoy all the fun this week - you earned it.  High school will be great - stand tall, have fun, and don’t miss all the great opportunities - you only get to do it once.  Really.

7th Graders - Your big year is coming up.  Set an example for the younger Jaguars - work hard, but have a lot of fun.  It’s a hectic time - so try to relax and be a kid.  It’s also now your turn to give back to your school community as they have given to you the last 2 years.

6th Graders -You actually made it through 6th grade in one piece.  We told you it would be fine - now you can see for yourself.  Take it easy on the new 6th graders in the fall - you were there only a short year ago - remember that.  Be kind.

Have a fabulous summer.  Unplug the computer, toss the Xbox, and get outside - it doesn’t have to be sunny to go to the beach.  This is San Francisco - we make our summer fun where we can.  Read a bunch of good books.  Then read one more.   See fun movies.  Visit with family and friends.  Sleep late.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face.

Go Jaguars!!!!!
