Health and Science Pathway

Mission Statement:

Our Mission is to Expose Balboa Students to Educational and Employment Possibilities in the Fields of Health, Science and Biotechnology.

Goals and Objectives for each Student:

To introduce the student to vocational opportunities in Health and Science.
To provide Interships and Mentorships to solidify those opportunities.
To train the studnt in skills that will provide them with opportunities to be employed in the Health, Science or Biotechnology fields.

Projects and or Student Work:

Water Quality testing supported by the SFPUC, SFSU and CCSF.
Training with biotechnology equipment provided by the SF BASE and Genentec, to perform laboratory skills necessary for employment in these fields.
Use of technology to practice and hone those skills.
Field trips to biotech firms and Colleges and Universities in our area.

Principles of Technology (physics)
Chemistry I and II
Advanced Algebra

Future Plans:

We want to expand our course offerings to include a course titled, “Principles of Biotechnology”, which will improve our students access to skills based curriculum in an up and coming field of science.
