This year in class we celebrated the one hundredth year
anniversary of the Wright Brothers' flight.
We had our own paper airplane flight activity/contest to put what we
learned to the test!
The activity involved making a paper airplane for one of three
contests. The first contest was for the longest flight. The
second contest was for the airplane that stayed in the air for the
longest time. The final contest was for the airplane that was the
most unique.
After the students made their airplanes, they had to measure the length
from nose to tail, the width of the plane's wingspan, and the depth of
the plane at it's tail. The student's also had to draw a detailed
sketch of their airplanes with the correct measurements labeled.
The final step was to write clear instructions of how to make their
exact airplane.
As you can tell, it was a lot of hard work!
