Discussed metods for gathering input on budget priorities.
The initial draft of the budget is due october 1, 2004. We'll
hold a staff meeting on September 28, 2004 to present ideas
and gather staff input. Starting September 21, parents will
receive a letter in the Wednesday folder which presents budget
ideas and asks for input regarding opinions and new ideas.
Within the SSC the following ideas were suggested for spending
unallocated monies:
- Perform a needs analysis of curriculum materials for math,
reading, and science with the intent of purchasing critical
materials that address the needs of low-performing students.
- Identify professional development and planning time resources
that will help teachers focus on math and reading performance
of low-performing students.
- Create a musical instrument scholarship program to help
low-income students pay the $100 / year instrument rental
fee.
Bottom line: we have a plan for completing the first draft
of the school 2004/2005 budget.
Welcome to new members: Dara Peters, and Ruby MacDonald
