  • More arts, music, performing arts
  • More art, more music, more gardening
  • More money for art so not so much time has to be spent scrambling for $
  • More music art science
  • More art, music & theater. What about an annual school play?
  • Art – more 3D
  • More art programs
  • More creative approach to curriculum including arts
  • More music, art, science
  • More music
  • More art for everyone
  • More singing, music
  • More art, music, and science education
  • Music classes
  • School plays
  • More music
  • Even more art
  • More music, arts, plays, talent shows
  • Bring art back for all students on a regular basis
  • I think Harvey Milk needs more music programs
  • Formal music program
  • Children can have the opportunity to learn how to play musical instruments when they start at least firstgrade (if it can be included in their curriculum).
  • School may can open more music programs for the kids who ride the school bus
  • More arts education
  • Music & Art lacking!
  • Art &music enrichment for lower grades
  • More visual and performing arts

After-School

  • Maintain after-school programs
  • 2 clubs for second graders
  • Get more people involved with after school programs
  • More programs before and after school
  • More diversity in clubs, after-school
  • Cooking and Spanish classes

Civil Rights Suggestions

  • I would like to see the civil rights curriculum supported more on a very practical level ( ie kids being kind, lack of name calling, teasing, self-respect, etc.) I realize this is idealistic.
  • More curriculum on civil rights, ethics, activism, environmental education
  • Curriculum emphasizing kindness, thoughtfulness to others, friendship
  • More peace
  • Civil rights/anti-bias curriculum explicit throughout school (in and out of class)
  • More civil rights in the curriculum
  • More civil rights actually taught at every grade level
  • Stronger civil rights curriculum
  • Historical and cultural education

Discipline Issues

  • A more structured discipline policy
  • I think all children should follow the same rules. No special treatment should be granted due toamount of parent participation. Very unfair (dress code? No skate shoes?
  • Less street talk as common usage

Nutrition / Health

  • More time for recycling for the kids
  • More time to have their food at lunch
  • Children should eat breakfast before bell ring. Some kids are late for class (miss out) because theywait to eat until the last minute
  • School meals/breakfast
  • Less sugar distributed by the sweet treats often offered as prizes at after-school
  • Give children more time for their lunch time meal.
  • Bring back fresh fruits and veggies at lunch program
  • Better food that the kids like
  • Parents to provide snacks for the 4th & 5th grade classes
  • Quit selling fruit bars – high fructose corn syrup isn’t all its been touted to be! Too much work for toolittle profit – counter productive
  • I would love meals at lunch 0 I worry about the origins of beef in the hamburgers

Health

  • The students should learn about drugs so they would be careful
  • Health and nutrition education
  • Soaps in bathrooms always
  • Cooking classes for 4th & 5th graders
  • I can only think of those 2 - things I wanted in the past have been accomplished (art, library, play structure)

Field-Trips

  • Field trips for education
  • More field trips
  • Field trips to the Marin Headlands
  • Cultural and enrichment trips

Increased Academic Programming / Higher Expectations

  • More academic emphasis
  • More programs for under-challenged kids
  • Same focus on kids that are doing well-how to teach to ALL levels
  • More creative writing, even in kindergarten
  • More instruction and enrichment for kids who are above the level of their class. I am not sure how to do this in a way that allows kids who perform at the top of their class a challenge while not hurting the esteem of the kids who are at lower levels, but it would be great to find a way to do both.
  • More rigorous schedule
  • Teach languages
  • More complex instruction
  • More hands-on less worksheets
  • Having opportunities for special projects for higher functioning kids
  • Tutoring program to bump-up test scores. Have older kids work with younger kids
  • More homework in kindergarten
  • Contests geared toward education, like literacy, essay, or paragraph
  • Gifted students program?
  • Foreign language?
  • I wish my child could be challenged more academically in some areas. It seems like much of the programs/funding is spent on bringing the lower child up, while my child who is already high performing isn't’t really being focused on/challenged.
  • Equal attention to children at all learning and economic levels
  • More hands-on activities to demonstrate learning
  • More focus on diction and grammar
  • Academics-many students not challenged enough, more emphasis on his (as much as the social skills taught)
  • Teaching-more creative approach to curriculum, seems more and more teaching to testing happening
  • Less worksheets and more creative projects
  • More opportunities for higher functioning kids to get into special groups for in-depth learning activities
  • Regular showcases of student talents
  • Ia A published curriculum
  • Ia Customized homework (based on individual child’s level of development)
  • Put more homework for the children
  • There are no books to know what she will learn next week or the weeks after
  • Project-based learning.
  • Project-based learning
  • Kids allowed to work at their own level if reading/language arts
  • More programs academics
  • Test preparation
  • I think if the school can give students the test every two weeks, that may improve their school-work
  • For third grade students, I think they need practice on writing and reading
  • Strive to have higher academics and higher expectations of the students
  • More test prep sessions
  • More education through books
  • More flexibility with the District’s reading program
  • Teachers try instructional strategies to reach all learners (especially low performing)
  • More support for all children to have access to curriculum
  • Higher educational standards
  • Maintain highest standards for each teacher’s work
  • Although I love the extras, we need to remember the 4 basics (strong reading, strong math, socialist needs more time, science needs more time)
  • Education-a reading program with better thought-out higher quality assessments
  • Reading program with higher quality literature
  • A more balanced, comprehensive language arts curriculum
  • Bilingual education if needed

  • Increase it to 8th grade
  • More buses
  • More student centered assemblies
  • Student council
  • Active mentor programs
  • Active visitors with career information for students

  • More time spent doing school-wide class crossed community building
  • Classroom community building – TRIBES
  • A brighter, more colorful auditorium
  • More psychological help for kids
  • Paid librarian (Ruby if possible)

Physical Education

  • Motor skills for upper grades
  • Purchase more sports equipment for coaches
  • More physical activities
  • I would like to see more serious PE activity to help teach teamwork, respect and endurance

Parent Involvement

  • Vary the family nights – I work on Thursday nights
  • Reports on what the children are learning. Report cards may not be appropriate to K
  • More outreach to underrepresented families
  • Another movie night when the weather is better
  • More information about the school in Chinese
  • Lets do an annual read-a-thon. It could raise lots of $ - all profit!
  • Easier for parents to make a difference, parent involvement pretty much limited to PFC and fundraising.
  • Percentage-wise, very few parents active in improving school. Avenues not open to make this easy. No place for parents and faculty to address issues of education, testing, the arts, etc. Together. Deciding where funds will go together.
  • Fundraising for school activities
  • Pi People greeting the parents and not only saying hello to the children
  • I think we should have a suggestion box. Some parents have different ideas for fundraisers
  • When we have meetings it would be nice to have doors unlocked, especially the front door and the bathrooms
  • Have an adult readily available to answer questions with after-school concerns
  • More parent involvement (it should be required)
  • More studying at home
  • Active partnerships of parents organized by the school
  • More outreach to parents from teachers
  • More teacher/staff participation in evening events at school
  • More innovative ways implemented in attracting parents of color to become involved in school
  • A closer positive connection to parents (liaIson)
  • More dedicated parent liaison
  • Parent support with academics with low-achieving students
