Ms. Wan

For any of you who might be attending Ms. Wan's honors class next year, here is a heads-up on what you might expect. Ms. Wan is actually a pretty nice teacher, but you may think she's strict if you don't behave. She doesn't have any special rules, but to follow the basic guidelines and rules. Compared to other classes, this class seems easy sometimes, other times it's very challenging.

Ms. Wan teaches social studies and English, and social studies definitely seems to be the harder one. In social studies you do independent work, by reading each section and doing the section review for homework. The next day she'll review it, going over what you don't understand, making sure you know the material. Then after the chapter is over, you'll get a nice surprise, a test. Out of all the tests I taken in 8th grade, Ms. Wan makes some the hardest, so study. These tests are made up of multiple choice, matching and hard essay questions. They usually take over an hour to finish.

Besides that, she likes to find creative ways to learn material more deeply. When that happens we either make a poster, a presentation, or an essay. Often you have to stand up in front of the class and present.

English might be an easier subject, from doing spelling worksheets to understanding stories and their themes. Also in poetry, Ms.Wan makes us learn as much as possible. Overall, she finds ways to keep us busy and sometimes have fun and creative projects for us to do.

Ms. Wan actually is quite a nice teacher, but can be really strict if you fool around. She is reasonable and can change due date for incidents, but if you're behind she'll make sure by giving more work. She's a tough teacher, but teaches what we need to learn and that makes her a good teacher.
