Sports Played for Galileo: Football, Relay, and Long Jump
By displaying his exemplary football abilities over the past four years, Marcel Love has shown promise in a bright future. He is, by all means, the best wide receiver in San Francisco. Love, a senior this year, has played football and competed in relay and long jump events for Galileo his entire high-school career. There is no stopping this athlete; he is on a roll this year as he leads the Lions in catches and yardage from receptions.

As a child, Love attended Star King Elementary and later, he went to Potereo Middle School. Naturally adept to sports, he immediately began his high school athletics career when he came to Galileo. He played junior varsity football for one year, and then after showing his talent, he went straight into varsity football the next year. In his first year of playing varsity football, Galileo made it to the championships. Unfortunately, the Lion’s lost that year. The following year, Love’s talent and enthusiasm for football grew. Other teams began to have great respect for Love that year. That season initially started out with some trouble, when, in a divisional game, Love broke his hand. This caused him to miss most of the season. That year the AAA Football yearbook depicted Love making a catch under the Galileo section. |

Over the years, Love has not only played football, but he has also participated in events such as the triple jumper and the relay. As a freshman, he took 5th place in San Francisco in relay and as a sophomore he moved up another rank to 4th.
In the long jump, Love did well for his first two years but it all changed when he became a junior. Love jumped 20 feet, 3 inches and took All City for the event.
Upon his graduation in June, Love hopes to enter California State University Fresno State where he will play football for the Bulldogs. In five years Love pictures himself playing football in the NFL.
Love expresses that his experience on the field would not have been the same without Coach Murray and Coach Adams. The two coaches have helped him stay focus on his academics so he could perform better on the field.
