Boy’s Soccer Season Ends on a Sore Foot

Galileo’s Boys’ Soccer Team really showed everyone what they were all about this season. They put on a great performance throughout the season, playing with fierce intensity and unwavering motivation. They won most of their games but the couple that they did lose were extremely vital. Their losses were mainly due to the pressure and anxiety that they faced during their games.

In one of their games against Mission High School, the team played powerfully but they were under a lot of pressure. The team felt that they had to beat Mission in order to secure a spot in the playoffs. Other games that they played were played just as when the team practiced, and at times their opponents could not even score. Their game against Wallenberg illustrated the Lions’ dominance, as they defeated Wallenberg’s soccer team by a whopping score of 15-0.

The players came very close to being in the playoffs, but they lost their playoff spot to Mission. The first game they played against mission was a close game all the way up to the last twenty minutes. The scored was tied 1-1, but the Mission soccer team managed to score 3 goals in the last half, making the final score 4-1. The Lions, however, got revenge in their second meeting; they won by a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, Mission had a higher winning percentage than the Lions, which is why they were able to go to the playoffs while the Lions were not.

The players came a long way from last year’s season, both as individuals and as a team. They devoted themselves to the game from start to end. The players stayed strong as a team by supporting each other and doing the best they possibly could to improve their skills.

Even though they did not win a trophy, the greatest thing the players got from this season is learning that they could do anything as long as they put their minds and their hearts into the game. We are very proud of this year’s Boys’ Soccer Team and we wish you better luck next year.
