PRESENTATION OUTLINE
This
outline will help you organize your presentation to the judges. Here are some
steps you may follow to help you prepare.
I.
Introduction: How will you introduce your project?
Use an interesting “attention-getter.” What visuals, charts, graphs or videos
will you use?
II.
Explain your project: What is it about?
What did you build/make/create? Why did you choose to do this particular
project? What visuals, charts, graphs or videos will you use? What
is the thesis of your project? You must CLEARLY state the thesis!
III.
Explain the Process: What steps did you take?
What difficulties did you encounter? What role did your group members,
peer editors, teachers and other consultants play? What visuals, charts,
graphs or videos have you used?
IV.
Describe your findings: What did you discover; what
did you learn? Summarize what you wrote in your paper. Make sure
you have a clear understanding of the subject:
supporting details, facts, examples, definitions. Indicate any learning, self-discovery, or
awareness you have gained as a result of this project. What visuals, charts,
graphs or videos did you include?
V.
Conclusion: How important were the process and the results for
this project? How well does your project reflect your academic skills?
How does this project demonstrate a “stretch” for you”? What would you have done differently if
given another opportunity?
ALSO
CONSIDER:
A. Time Management: How much time will you allot to each part?
B. Organization of notes; DON’T JUST READ FROM YOUR
NOTE CARDS!
C. Materials needed: What kinds of
materials/aids will you need for your presentation—VCR? Easel?
Overhead projector? Computer and projector for PowerPoint?
D. Attire: What will you wear to present a professional
appearance?
E. Questions from the panel of judges: What might
they ask you? How might you respond?
