This Behavior Management Plan is built upon several tenets:
- Every child can learn
- Every child will respect themselves one another and the environment
- Every child deserves unconditional positive regard
- Every child deserves a safe, nurturing place to graow and learn - physically and emotionally
- The values of kindness, courtesy, patience, listening and sharing will be taught
- The idea of friendship and community will be explored in each classroom
- Children will be expected to take care of themselves and others
- Adults will model high standards of behavior
- Discipline will be restorative and developmentally appropriate
- Conflict is to be expected and respected as an opportunity for growth
- Every effort will be taken to infuse a spirit of caring for children and their well being
Behavior Management Plan
As a result of these basic tenets for the educational,
social and emotional growth and development of our children,
we have adopted the use of seven virtues, stressing to both
the students as well as the staff the goal to be good citizens.
Both the teachers and staff have agreed to accept, teach
and model these virtues in and around the school, with the
children and each other, in order to demonstrate good citizenship
as well as "being a light that our children can follow".
These virtues of citizenship are covered below,
along with the rules to support them. They are as follows:
