Complementary Portrait The complementary portrait is the last assignment done in Art 1. The artists use a mirror to draw themselves on paper before starting to paint. After being given teacher approval, they transfer their drawing to white paper. They then choose their two colors that are complementary to each other (on opposite sides of the color wheel) such as blue and orange, purple and yellow, or red and green. They also use white because of its ability to make mixing easier as well as make the colors more opaque. With only three colors they start painting themselves. Size: 12" x 18" Media: Watercolor |
