Monochromatic Shoe

This is the assignment students work on after their pencil portrait. It is probably one of the most interesting assignments because it allows room for imagination and is the first colorful assignment that the students make. They start by making another 8-step value chart, only in color, with three columns: one with tints, one with shades, and one with a smooth gredation that combines concepts for the other two. Upon completion of the chart, students make three thumbnails of their own shoe in any position. (tongue hanging out, hanging by laces, lopsided, etc.) They then use one color, along with white and black powdered pigment and water to paint their shoe.

Size: 12" x 18"

Media: Powdered Pigment
