Gallery 75
Welcome to Gallery 75, the electronic art gallery displaying work done by students at Lowell High School, San Francisco, room 75. The work is done under art teacher Karen Joyce, who, for many years has taught students how to draw and paint, as well as experiment with exciting, new materials that developed new ways for students to delve into their creative sides. Now her student work is openly availible for public viewing on this website. Mistakes, suggestions, or missing information may be suggested or submitted by e-mail. A link to contact information is posted on the bottom of each page. When news comes it will be posted. TIP: This site is image-heavy. It helps if you set your resolution to about 1280x1024 (average monitors) so you won't have to scroll as much. You can also press F11 in both Explorer and Firefox to go in and out of full-screen browsing. "Creation is the artist's true function. But it would be a mistake to ascribe creative power to an inborn talent. Creation begins with vision. The artist has to look at everything as though seeing it for the first time like a child. To create is to express what we have within ourselves. We take from our surroundings everything that can nourish our internal vision. We enrich ourselves internally with all the forms we have mastered, which we set to a new rhythm. It is in the expression of this rhythm that the artist's work becomes really creative. Great love is needed to achieve this, a love capable of inspiring and sustaining that patient striving towards truth, that glowing warmth and that analytic profundity that accompany the birth of any work of art. But is not love the origin of creation." -Henry Matisse
