Lowell High School Policy

School Hours
The school building is open on school days from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Building security requires that these times be respected. Students are not to be in the building except during these hours.
Quiet Campus
Most students are here for the opportunities a campus like Lowell offers. All of the hallways are to be quiet, even during passing periods; because of the modular schedule many students are in class when others are passing in the halls. Be aware of the proximity to open windows when out of doors or in the courtyard and limit noise.
Places to Study
The library has been enlarged and outdoor furniture has been purchased. There are other resource centers. Most hallways are too crowded to allow study and will not be used with the exception of the third floor and the area between the 260 and 270 wings. An exception will be made in inclement weather when hallways may be used for quiet study. All students using hallways for study will sit with backs to the walls with knees bent so that others may pass.
Toys and Games
Lowell's is an academic environment. The Lowell program is predicated upon use of the school's resources during the school day. Consequently, we ask that the following not be brought to school: skateboards, water guns/balloons, large radios and tape decks, and beepers. Card and board games are permitted in the center and south courtyards/student arcade ONLY. Any form of gambling is prohibited.
Smoking
No Smoking on Campus or at School Activities: State law makes smoking and the possession of tobacco on a school campus illegal.
Litter
It is expected that students will not litter. A student who does will be expected not only to pick up his or her own litter but will be assigned school service and will help clean the campus and neighborhood.
Graffiti
Sufficient art supplies are available for class and student activities. No student needs or may bring to school spray paint or indelible marking pens. Possession of these will be grounds for suspension from school. A student who marks the school or environs will be reported to the police and suspended from school with recommendation of expulsion.
Language
Profane or abusive language has no place on the Lowell campus.
