Lowell High School Policy

Fire and Earthquake Drills
High schools are required to have fire drills observed by a fire captain. When the fire alarm signal is heard, everyone is to vacate the building in an orderly manner in accordance with evacuation instructions posted in each room. Students will proceed a considerable distance from the building to allow all students to exit. A long ring of the bell will signal the "all clear."
Earthquake Drills
At the signal (intermittent bells) you are to:
  • Drop to floor, get under a desk or table, and assume protective position.
  • If desk or table is not available, stand in a doorway or a corner facing away from the windows.
  • Remain calm and quiet. Listen for instruction from your teacher.
  • If you are outdoorsstay outdoors. Move away from the building or trees. Stay on campus.
Emergency Cards
All students new to Lowell are required to fill out emergency cards during the first week of the semester. Every student must have a card on file with current information so that in the event of an accident or emergency, procedures can be followed in accordance with parental wishes. It is vital that the information on these cards be kept current.
