Lowell High School Policy

Lunch
Modified Open Campus for Lunch Periods Only: The Lowell campus is a modified open campus for a student's lunch period only. However, the Stonestown Galleria Shopping Mall and the Rolph-Nicol Playground (next to the west faculty parking lot) are strictly off-limits to all students during school hours, including the lunch periods. For safety reasons, students are not to walk to or from school by way of the wooded path (the "trestle path") behind the Stonestown parking lot. In addition, students need to follow a "good-neighbor" policy and keep the surroundings clean and graffiti-free.
Where to Eat
The cafeteria and the courtyards only. No food in halls or classrooms even in inclement weather. Please do not litter.
Cafeteria Services
Cafeteria service begins with the serving of breakfast from 7:15 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. for those who either wish to buy a breakfast or who are participating in the free and reduced price meal program. At 8:30 a.m. the first of three snack carts becomes available. A variety of items such as, milk, sweet rolls, donuts, or similar fare may be purchased. With the exception of the registry period, food service is continuous until 1:30 p.m.

During the regular lunch period from 11:15 a.m. until 1:15 p.m., the cafeteria serves a regular Type A lunch and has available for sale a number of a la carte items. The beanery offers a variety of both hot and cold a la carte items.

Free and Reduced Price Meal Program
This federally funded meal program provides a nourishing breakfast and lunch for those students whose family income meets criteria for either a free or reduced price meal. A student desiring to take part in the program can obtain an application form and an eligibility guide in the cafeteria. Once the application is approved, the student is issued a meal card with a distinctive color each semester.
