Parental & Community Information
Lowell is fortunate in having parents who take an active interest in matters concerning the school. In past years, their support has insured that Lowell remains a non-districted, academic high school. All parents are urged to participate and contribute to the educational decisions that will shape Lowell in years to come.
PTSA: The Lowell Parent Teacher Student Association
The Lowell PTSA is committed to promoting a closer relationship among parents, faculty, staff, and students and to enhancing the educational opportunities of the students. Through general membership meetings, the PTSA provides a forum for dealing with issues that may affect the instructional program of the school. On-going matters of interest are discussed with the Principal at monthly meetings of the Executive Board.

Five hundred of PTSA's 1,200+ members participate on 30 committees that oversee the following: a college/career multi-media center (VICCI); parent/student presentations by 120 private colleges, UC, CSU, and S.F. City College; the Book-to-Book Center; drug/health education; a parent handbook and newsletter and 8th grade recruitment and testing. The PTSA also sponsors two school clean-up days and parents sit on the Site Advisory Council. The Academic Affairs Committee works with the administration and teachers to provide a supportive academic atmosphere.
