PHYSICAL EDUCATION 1 & 2
The core program offered to ninth grade students includes an introduction to team sports, recreational activities, physical fitness testing and conditioning. Basic skills and knowledge of activities are emphasized.
Students apply fundamental movement skills in team sports and analyze movement performance. Personal fitness scores are compared to health related standards, and goals are set for improvement. Students create and implement a personal fitness program, monitor physical changes and modify the plan as their goals are reached.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION 3 & 4
Students apply fundamental skills in individual and dual sports and dance. New courses are offered with the introduction of Outdoor Education and Orienteering. The principles of resistance levels and Newton's Laws are used in the analysis of movement to improve physical performance. There is continuing emphasis on health related fitness.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION 5, 6, 7 & 8
Advanced elective courses are offered for students who wish to further develop skills in sports and fitness. Elective course offerings are determined by site administration according to teacher allocations/availability and student interest. Swimming is offered at this level.

SWIMMING TEST
Students must swim two lengths of the pool using any stroke and tread water one minute.

JROTC 1, 2, 3 & 4 (INTRODUCTION TO JROTC)
Four semesters of progressive leadership development consisting of subcourses on history, purpose and objectives of the JROTC programs, leadership theory, management principals, personality needs and group dynamics, oral communications and teaching skills, map reading, orienteering, drill and ceremonies, first aid, alcohol and drug abuse and physical fitness training are offered. Optional participation is offered in after- school competition drill teams, drum corps, leadership encampments and adventure training.

JROTC 5, 6, 7, & 8 (ADVANCED)
Four semesters of hands-on management and leadership experience with maximum opportunity to teach and supervise junior cadets in all aspects of the programmed activities. Subcourses in advanced leadership techniques, military history, written communication skills, advanced map reading, and command and staff responsibilities are offered. Optional participation is offered in after-school competition, drill teams, drum corps, leadership encampments and adventure training.
GRADE LEVEL: 11, 12  PREREQUISITES: JROTC 1-4

RIFLERY
The course content emphasizes safety, maintenance and handling of the precision air rifle and the 22-caliber rifle. The program develops position rifle marksmanship and coaching skills. Students are offered the opportunity to compete against other schools and teams at the State and National level. Participation may lead to an Athletic Association letter award, entry into collegiate riflery programs, and scholarships. Optional participation is also offered in the Summer Biathlon, trap and skeet.
