Grading Policy and Class Procedures

Mr. Davis: Room 205

School Phone: 749-3469

The grade in my class will be determined strictly by completed assignments and tests. The grading standard will be 90-100% A, 80-89% B, 65-79% C, 50-64% D and below 50% F.

Testing:

· Tests are given every 2 weeks and are generally returned within one or two days.

· Each test is worth 100 points.

· Normally tests can only be made up during class time the next time the class meets. If a student is absent for an extended period special arrangements will be made for test make up. Tests may be taken early by special arrangement.

· The final will be worth two tests. The final may not be made up, missing the final will lower your semester mark one letter grade.

· The lowest test of the semester, but not the final, will be dropped from a student’s final grade.

Assignments:

· Work is assigned daily. Students tend to learn best if they do some work each day rather than cram the day before an exam.

· Assignments are worth 10 points each and are due the next day the class meets. On blocked days the class will receive two assignments. Late work, only from the last class, will only be accepted at the start of the period the next time the class meets.

· Students are expected to keep their work in a three ring binder divided into three sections: assignments, tests and notes. The binder for algebra and geometry students will be checked every grading period and worth 20 points each time.

Material Needed:

· Students are expected to bring their book, paper and pencil to class every day.

· A small ruler in both cm and inches is strongly recommended.

· Algebra students need to bring a scientific calculator to class every day.

· Geometry students will also need a calculator, a scientific calculator is needed for the second semester.

· Calculus students need to bring a graphing calculator to class every day.

Assistance:

· I am available to help students every day before 1st period and during lunch (on days I don’t have a meeting) and during office hours in room 205.

· Tutoring is available after school in the library 2 or 3 days a week.

· Outside tutors may be needed if a student falls behind or doesn’t understand the prerequisite courses.
