Head of Research, Planning and Assessment

Ritu Khanna is San Francisco Unified School District's Head of Research, Planning, and Assessment. The Research, Planning and Assessment Department is responsible for providing, analyzing and interpreting data, and for supporting data-driven decision making by school administrators and teachers for the improvement of teaching and learning throughout the district.

She holds a doctorate in education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois, with a focus on statistics and measurement. She has also earned two master's degrees: one in Educational Psychology and another in Industrial Psychology. She maintains a part-time faculty position in the Educational Leadership program at St. Mary’s College teaching research and statistics to students pursuing their master's degrees and doctorates in education.
