Before becoming Assistant Superintendent of Special Education, Jean Robertson was the principal at Glen Park School. Prior to that, Jean was a supervisor in the Special Education Department, Division of Instruction, Innovation and Social Justice for one year and the Principal at Grattan School for eleven years. She’s taught first, seventh and eighth grade and worked as a Resource Specialist in her twelve years of classroom experience. Throughout her career, Jean has had a keen lens for equity and is committed to environmental and arts education, parental involvement and culturally relevant pedagogy. She is a committed champion of inclusive practices and has had a great impact on the district through creating and modeling successful programs at her schools. Jean serves as an advisor to the board of Access Institute in San Francisco and is the President of the United Administrators of San Francisco, Local 3: American Federation of School Administrators, AFL-CIO.

Born in Rhode Island, Jean is a true east coaster with a strong work ethic. She is married and the mother of two daughters. Jean completed her undergraduate work receiving a Bachelor of Science degree at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. She continued her studies at San Francisco State University and received a Masters in Education Administration. Jean is a committed champion of all her students and teachers and works to ensure a harmonious and joyful teaching and learning community each day.
