Highlights Oct. 9-13: School, City leaders join students for Walk and Roll to School Day; Parents explore school options at Enrollment Fair

Highlights

Thousands of students are expected to participate in San Francisco’s 10th annual Walk and Roll to School Day, including students at George Peabody Elementary School. Students will be joined by Mayor London Breed, SFUSD Superintendent Dr. Vincent Matthews, District 1 Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer, and other City leaders as they walk to school. The event is organized by Walk San Francisco as part of the San Francisco Safe Routes to School partnership, which aims to make streets safer for walking, encourage daily physical activity, reduce traffic, and help the environment. The day also aligns with the City’s Vision Zero goal of ending all traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2024. 

WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, October 10th

8 a.m. (Start of walk to school): Richmond Library / 351 9th Avenue

8:30 a.m. (Students arrive/assembly begins): Peabody Elementary / 251 6th Avenue

It’s time to enroll students for the 2019-2020 school year. Parents will have the opportunity to learn about the best school options for their child at the annual SFUSD Enrollment Fair. Representatives including principals, teachers and district staff from all 100+ SFUSD schools, from preschool to 12th grade, will answer questions. Parents will participate in workshops to learn more about transitional kindergartenlanguage pathways, and other programs. The goal of the fair is to give families the opportunity to explore school options and learn about the resources available to them during the decision-making process. They can also pick up an Enrollment Guide and application, which is due January 11, 2019.

WHEN: Saturday, October 13th / 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
