Updated March 8, 2020

Lowell High School will remain closed and all events and gatherings are cancelled through Monday evening.

District leaders have been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation in San Francisco and working closely with City agencies. We will provide you with an update on Monday afternoon. We know that closing school is disruptive and we appreciate your understanding. We have done and will continue to do enhanced cleaning to ensure the campus is clean before it reopens.

While a parent of a Lowell High School student is being treated for COVID-19, no Lowell student has been diagnosed with COVID-19. The student whose parent is being treated has not had any symptoms and is in self quarantine. We are in constant contact with DPH and are monitoring the situation with the student whose parent is ill. It is our legal obligation and our commitment to respect the privacy of the student and their family.

Some people are wondering if they may have come in contact with the student whose parent is ill. The Department of Public Health investigates when there is a confirmed case, and will notify any individuals who should be concerned.

If you have any personal health questions, please consult with a medical professional. If you have any school-health related questions, please call the SFUSD Nurse of the Day at (415) 241-6565.

We are exploring options for students to continue learning in the event the school remains closed for an extended period of time. It is our goal to minimize disruption to student learning.

Visit the SFUSD website for more information regarding COVID-19 preparedness and resources.
